When you have a family with kids and maybe even a pet or two, they come along with stuff. In many homes, it seems that there is never enough room for everyone’s things. That doesn’t mean you have to sell everything or put it in a storage unit. There are a lot of different ways you can store items. Here are a few suggestions to help your storage dilemma.
Offseason Wardrobe
Every winter it is incredible to have coats, sweaters, boots, skis and other winter toys out for some cold weather fun. When the springtime comes through, those unwanted items start to take up a lot of space. What is an excellent place to store them? Try using the area underneath your bed. Pack them neatly away in some storage bins and slide them under your bed. Using the space under your bed can be an especially good idea if you store your summer things away under the bed and swap them out each season.
Extra Linens
During the winter, it gets cold and extra blankets are a necessity for those cold winter nights. It is nice to have them for guests too. Where is the right place to store them when you aren’t using them? Try some vacuum bags. When you put the blanket is inside, vacuum bags allow you to take out all the extra air and make them easier to store. You can then save them under a bed, shelf or even in a small linen closet.
Shoes
Shoes are a necessity. You need a pair to match every outfit and for a lot of different occasions. If you aren’t careful, they can get away from you. Create some space for your shoes by using an over the door shoe rack. Shoe racks can be used in some rooms, or even in closets. You can also use shoe racks for other things like belts, hats or even socks.
Bikes
Bikes are great for exercise and getting you around places, especially a city. They also take up a lot of space. What is a great place to store one when you don’t have space in a garage or patio? Try putting up some hooks and hang it. You can make it part of the décor of the walls to make it fit in with the surroundings as well.
Decorations
Do you have a love of holidays and a need to decorate your place? While celebrating with decorations, gives you place a more festive look. Eventually, you will need to take them down. Storing them can take up a lot of space. A great way to save them is putting up shelves. You can also store them behind clothes in a closet, or on a clothing shelf.
Just because your house or apartment is small, doesn’t mean you have to give up all your belongings. By being creative with your storage, you can keep many of your most loved possessions.
